Croatia summer destinations

Croatia is a receptive country, and most of its income directly or indirectly comes from tourism. There are many places in Croatia to visit for summer destinations.

Although lately, urban tourism has been developing and guests are coming throughout the year. Croatia is still known as a summer destination with which to connect with the beautiful and indented coast, nice weather with high temperatures and a lot of sunny days.

For this reason, the most famous and visited destinations in Croatia are on or near the coast. Dubrovnik, Split, Rovinj, Makarska, Sibenik… are just a few out of many. But Zagreb, as the capital city of Croatia is also a very popular destination. Even in the hot summer days and the distance from the coast.

Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is one of the most important historical and tourist centers of Croatia. Its located in south Dalmatia and near the border with Montenegro. In the old port of the city you’ll find it easy to conjure up the ancient sailing vessels. The bygone centuries of wealth, power and fame. Dubrovnik, once a republic, a city-state with a thousand years of liberty. The culture, literature, painting, architecture, philosophy, science, music and diplomacy of Dubrovnik are an irresistible part of the cultural heritage of Europe and the whole world. Also, there are a few nice beaches around the old walls of Dubrovnik where you can enjoy your summer vacation you can relax or have fun at one of the many attractions.

Lately Dubrovnik is also famous for the filming of the series “Game of Thrones”. And a lot of people come to visit  places where the shooting happened.

Makarska and the Makarska Riviera are well-known summer destinations with great beaches, clear sea and summer attraction. Makarska is a great family destination, it has great food and restaurants, a large selection of fun attractions for kids and adults what makes it an ideal destination for Makarska holidays .

Split

Split has lately become one of the most popular destinations in Croatia, with the old city centre and the ancient Diocletian Palace, a lot of small restaurants and bars, nice weather and the famous beach “bačvice”. The big difference is made by the mega dance and music festival “Ultra Europe” that brought a lot of people from all parts of the World to Croatia and Split. In recent years, Split has experienced the largest increase in tourism.

Plitvice

Plitvice Lakes is one of the most beautiful nature parks in Europe, and its located near the city of Karlovac ( about 140 km from the capital city Zagreb). It is the oldest and largest national park of the Republic of Croatia. And from 1979 they are on UNESCO”s heritage list.

The lake system consists of 16 named and several smaller, cascading lakes. Due to its geological background and characteristic hydrogeological conditions, the lake system is divided into Upper and Lower Lakes. There are a few alternative ways to go through the park and see different parts of it. It all depends on how much time you have.

Zagreb

Zagrebis the capital and biggest city of Croatia and lately is most famous about its Christmas market. It was the best in Europe for the last 3 years (2016,2017,2018). Also, Zagreb is a very popular among summer destinations. It has a great number of attractions, museums, parks and festivals held through the whole year.
